A special purpose body established pursuant to state law, the LOCC meets every two years to set the compensation for elected City officials. The City Commission, by a 2/3 vote, may reject the compensation levels recommended by the LOCC.
Meeting Frequency: On call, in odd-numbered years
Affecting Legislation: Michigan Public Act 8 of 1972 (MCL 117.5c); City Ordinance 1472 (Chapter 2, Article XIII of the Kalamazoo City Code; Section 2-320 et seq.)
Term Limit: 7 year Terms, limited to 2 Consecutive Terms, then 7 year break.
